About Me

Hi, I’m Robert Elliott — a data analyst and developer with a passion for exploring the intersection of technology, ethics, and faith.

I created Rob’s Roost as a space to think deeply about how we use technology in a rapidly changing world. As someone working in data, machine learning, and software development, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful our tools have become — and how important it is to use them responsibly.

My Background

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Computing & IT from the Open University and have completed a Data Analytics with AI Bootcamp through Code Institute. My work has focused on:

  • Data analysis using Python (Pandas, NumPy, Plotly)
  • Machine learning techniques with scikit-learn and TensorFlow
  • Data visualisation and dashboarding (Power BI and Tableau)
  • Building web applications using Laravel and modern frontend tools

Alongside this, I’m a member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and continue to develop my skills through practical projects and ongoing learning.

Why This Blog Exists

Technology is not neutral — it reflects the values of the people who build and use it.

Through this blog, I explore questions such as:

  • How should we approach artificial intelligence ethically?
  • What responsibility do developers have for the systems they create?
  • How can Christian faith shape the way we design and use technology?

My goal is to bridge the gap between technical understanding and ethical reflection, offering insights that are both thoughtful and practical.

What You’ll Find Here

On Rob’s Roost, you’ll find:

  • Reflections on ethical technology and artificial intelligence
  • Practical insights from data analysis and machine learning
  • Discussions on faith, responsibility, and digital life
  • Real-world examples drawn from projects and experience

A Personal Note

This blog is part of my wider work under RSE Solutions, where I build tools and applications designed to serve real communities — including projects like Graveyard Admin, a system for managing burial records for churches.

Whether you’re a developer, a data professional, or simply someone interested in how technology shapes our world, I hope you find something here that challenges, informs, and encourages you.
